Our character is a professional boxer who currently lives in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He was born in Egypt and goes by the name; Mahmoud Salah Ismail better known as “The Godzilla”. Ismail, was born on October 27, 2003, at just 17 years old he has had a great career of successes and achievements that has taken many decades to achieve. His desire and discipline to become being a professional boxer has inspired him since he was a child to prepare with great dedication to the point that at the age of 15 he became the first Egyptian to compete professionally in this difficult sport in Thailand, that gives us an idea about the talented and bright future that has our character interviewed today.
30 Fights put him on stage as a feared opponent …
«The Godzilla» Ismail has been in his young age Egyptian national champion of Kick Boxing three times, allowing himself to be seen as a feared competitor that many prefer to avoid in competition. So far on the scene as Amateur Muay Thai he has played almost 30 fights with great victories which place him in the sporting environment as a boxer not easy to beat. He has a large collection of titles to his credit, among these victories is; Chang Mai Thai Champion, Egyptian Kickboxing Champion, Egyptian Muay Thai Champion and United Arab Emirates Champion.
Now fighting Pro Rules and living in Dubai, he sees a great future ahead of him.
For many that age represents other interests and only fun. For him his professional goals to fulfill are a vision or way of wanting to succeed: being a world champion in the future is one of his goals for which he works hard every day , and this is taken very seriously.
«You are not only what you train, you are also what you eat» …
- Did we ask you about which obstacle you consider to be difficult in your boxing career? He answered us very sure of himself; “ following a strict diet and losing weight are one of them, in boxing you have to follow a healthy and correct diet that allows you to maintain the perfect balance between calories and fat, among others, the diet of a boxer is made up of protein, and apart from white meat, eggs, tuna, peanut butter as healthy protein sources are part of my daily intake, but I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, I need a lot of vitamins, this is a requirement for being a healthy person in general in addition to drinking a lot of water and more water daily to keep in shape”.
His first fight, a first stumbling block …
- We asked Mahmoud to tell us an anecdote about the thing that has marked his career the most and we never thought it had been in his first fight, he told us; «It was just in my first fight, I had an open wound on my head, it was at that moment when I knew that this trip would not be easy,» he confessed with almost an expression of surprise that indicates that he still remembers that fact as something that truly marked him when he was considered by him, as a difficult start, but that helped him to move on and continue in the discipline with much more strength and with the goal ofbeing a champion.
My inspiration…
- Who has been the person that has helped you the most in your career? – Impatient but very precise and without hesitation he answered; – “My dad, he was the one who introduced me to this sport that I love and is part of my life, and so far he is the one who trains me, I also thank my head coach”, he told us.
-We asked our «Godzilla» Ismail about his achievements during his career,
something that many wonder, What has been the most important thing in your career ?, he replied; - “The fact of acquiring more and more experience, which makes me learn many new skills during my professional training, and thus improve my aptitude and concentration that I require for my mind, is a combination of both, mind and body, as well as over time I have learned to capture a lot of the new experiences for my training ” answered our young athlete.
Training and observing your mistakes, helps in your tactics …
«I train every day for almost 4 hours, only then I see and learn from my own mistakes, these make me elaborate my tactics and methods, analyze my opponents, and perfect my methods of attack and defense, these are hours that I dedicate daily to to be able to be a worthy contender for my rivals in the ring, I always assimilate my mistakes so as not to commit them again ”, he confessed about a daily discipline that places him in a complex world of training for consecutive triumph in the sport he practices.
After your last competition appearances, what will be your next goal to achieve? – «My next goal would be to face the world champion soon, and get the gold medal,» he said with a champion’s confidence and a sparkle in his eyes that show how accurate, clear and blunt his answer has been.
Our champion does not have a love at this time that fills the feelings in his life, he currently dedicates his free time to listening to music, enjoying his time to share with his family, his beloved parents; Yasmine Otouzbeer and Salah Ismail and his sister Aisha Ismail, with whom he spends much of his time sharing every leisure moment with him, in addition his friends also form their free time to distract themselves while recharging energy for their workouts.
